‘So Far So Good’ is the follow-up to Jimmie Bishop and Zach The Hero’s debut collaborative album, ‘The Ark,’ released in 2019.
With their most recent album, So Far So Good, soulful pair Jimmie Bishop & Zach The Hero have delivered a seven-track masterpiece, giving some of their greatest work to date, which listeners are sure to appreciate.
On their follow-up album, the duo shines easily together, trading verses throughout the album and creating a hypnotic “soulful trap” sound that shows their composition and production come from a place of heart, deep love, and appreciation for music. Songs like “I Want You,” featuring Jordyn Sadé, “So Far So Good/Outro,” and “Sunlight” demonstrate the band’s musicianship, bordering on neo-soul, while returning to a gritty Hip-Hop/Trap sound, making for an enjoyable listening experience.
“Now, our sound has evolved and become more musical,” Jimmie says. “Still keeping the soulful trap foundation but elevating; more live instruments, incorporating different styles from alternative to R&B, even singing more on songs and boom-bap also, this year and on, people are really going to see what we’re capable of.”
The two have always composed music with purpose in mind, and this project is no exception — it sets the tone for what’s to come in the future. So Far, So Good is about elevation and how far the two have progressed as artists. So Far So Good aims to “inspire,” encouraging people to “love one another” and “be driven” by music and one another.
“For me, what inspired this project is just seeing and realizing how far we’ve come with this music s***,” Zach The Hero says. “I tell everyone in every interview that we came from recording in GarageBand in a very hot garage, with no experience whatsoever. I had never rapped before in my entire life, and I wasn’t even making beats or engineering either.”
In a recent interview, Jimmie Bishop and Zach The Hero also stated that music has provided them with several opportunities to uplift themselves and those around them, which has increased their appreciation for life and music. And it is from this place that the album’s subject emerges, with “elevation” as the central motif. And that’s a great parallel for the duo as they prepare for a fantastic 2022.
