Nemanja Golubovic, is a vegan entrepreneur from Montenegro, and the founder of the popular Vegan Restaurant Kale My Name. He gives an exclusive interview on his experience as a celebrity judge on “The Blox” a competitive reality TV show.

How did you become a cast member of The Blox by MTV Reality Star Weston Bergmann? My agent was familiar with the show and told me about it. When I heard it was about entrepreneurship I immediately researched it and then proceeded to reach out to them. Shortly after I heard from Wes personally and he wanted to schedule a call with me to discuss my being a judge on the show. We spoke for almost 2 hours and researched me and watched my podcast and eventually told me he would love for me to join the cast as a mentor and judge for season 5 of The Blox.

Tell us more about “The Blox”, what is the show about? The Blox is a competitive reality TV show on entrepreneurship. Competitors/entrepreneurs are selected from across the country to compete in a 24-hour learning game. Out of 20 thousand applicants per season, they select 60 small to medium businesses and invite them to Kansas City for the show. There are 6 judges and every day starts with a class about a certain topic about entrepreneurship. Then contestants are immediately sent to a challenge that is based on the class they attended. They have to present to the judge of the day and we as judges need to pick one winner to compete at the end of the night with the winners that the other judges have chosen. We all collectively select the top winner of the day and the points are accumulated throughout the week which ends up determining the winner of The Blox.
How do you deal with fear and doubt in being a public figure? I don’t really consider myself a public figure but there is definitely a larger crowd of people who now know of me which can sometimes be scary. The biggest thing in my opinion is when the internet trolls start coming for me and my whole existence. I think I’m dealing with it well for the most part but sometimes it really bothers me. I try not to deal with it and ignore it so that’s my way of getting over the fear and doubt of being more well-known.
What were the routines you followed each day while filming? We would start shooting really early every morning and would always just be a very long day full of learning and activities. It is a reality show after all so cameras were nonstop filming us until it was time to go into our hotel rooms at night.
Do you see more reality shows in your future? They’re definitely fun and I probably have the personality for it so if it would align with who I am and if the concept of the show suited me then I would take on the opportunity.
How will you set yourself apart from other tv stars in the entertainment industry? I try to be myself and to be as authentic as possible so that popularity and fame could never change the person I really am.
What is your favorite part of filming? My favorite part of filming The Blox was the one on one consultations that I had with each and every contestant. Those were the moments I was able to learn about them and their businesses and brainstorm with them about how we can improve. When I was starting a business I didn’t have a mentor and it was extremely difficult for me so that’s why it is so important that I was able to be there for them. I also got to learn a lot from them as well.
Would you ever film another show? I already discussed the possibility with Wes about coming for another season and if my schedule allows it I’ll happily be back because this was one of the best experiences of my life.
Overall, how was your experience on The Blox and how was working with MTV Reality Star Weston Bergmann? Wes is a legend. I previously knew him only from TV, and while I knew he was a really funny guy I got to know how smart of a person he actually is. This man really is an entrepreneurial genius. He is incredibly kind and he really made me feel like I was a part of his family. I mean he made Kansas City fun and I cannot wait to be back. Overall the show was an amazing experience and it’s changing people’s businesses and lives it’s incredibly rewarding to witness something that beautiful.
