Many of you have no doubt heard about NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins. Thanks to his impressive game with the Boston Celtics and more recently, to the exemplary management and representation he has been getting, Perkins is hot right now.
But today, we are not talking about him. We’re talking about the dude behind him – the remarkable young entrepreneur that is Luke Cervino, founder of A1A Media, a media agency that collaborates with musicians and artists, but mainly represents athletes and accomplished sports stars. And we are talking major A-listers here like Kendrick Perkins, the crème de la crème, as they say.
So recently, we had the good fortune of sitting down with Luke a little and having him share with us some of his thoughts about being a marketer and entrepreneur in the 21st century. Having started his company at the impressive age of just 26 years old, Luke Cervino rapidly gained worldwide attention and attracted some of the hottest names in the game. In the short while since founding A1A Media, Cervino attracted major sports stars to his company, as well as handled marketing and PR work for a bunch of major brands.
But of course, it is not enough to be successful or to have a cunning mind for business. Who you are as a person also plays a great role in attracting and more importantly, maintaining your clientele? And if there is one thing that stands out about Luke Cervino right off the top is the basic human decency that shines through every pore. In our interview, we asked him about some common misconceptions about his industry, and he had this to say –
“Misconceptions can be there are shady people in the industries that try and take advantage of the people who don’t have as much knowledge. I value my work ethic and I value the people I choose to work with and who work for me. I love to work with good people who are passionate about what they do.”
And it’s that last bit that does both Cervino and his brand justice – this man is so passionate about what he does, so into it, that he’s managed to build a monumental media agency with reputable high-end clients in a very brief time and at a very young age. And all through a simple mix of business skill and passion.
Far too often in the entrepreneurship and marketing game, we tend to focus on the unbridled ambition it takes to rise to the top. And there is no doubt that you do need a great deal of that. But you also need a good heart, you also need to follow your own truth, and that is exactly what this young entrepreneur is doing.
Already working on a side project with his brother, Chaz Cervino, called “Cards for the Boys” (about collecting sports cards as a hobby), and looking to enter the real estate market in the near future, there is quite simply nothing stopping Luke Cervino in his ascension to the top of the industry.
