Born in the Mecca of hip-hop, the Bronx, New York but resided in Yonkers is none other than multi-talented artist, Just Malsz. Just like many creatives, Malsz became passionate about the art of music at a young age. At the age of eleven, he was blessed with several musical albums, which influenced his musical direction. From that moment on, he began penning his own songs and perfecting his craft.
The Journey Of Just Malsz
At this time, he quickly noticed that he was restricting his influence on the world after pursuing numerous career paths, such as entering the military and teaching. Unfortunately none of those careers hit home for him and he decided to take his music seriously. His first professional single, “The Way I’m Movin'” came as his debut in June of 2019. Although he’s released music since MySpace days, this record opened the doors needed to continue to rise.
It merely propelled him to hit new pinnacles after receiving such positive reviews. In January 2021, he kicked off the new year with more new music paired with visuals. In which, fans greatly appreciated and identified with. Keeping up the momentum, he began making a name for his brand by producing all of his video treatments and investing in himself.
Who Is Just Malsz?
His distinctive sound and inspiring lyrics are influenced by his childhood, his experiences in life, and his passion to innovate the culture in such positive ways. From hosting sold out pop up shops and shows, to packed out single release events and designing his own merchandise, Just Malsz is a unique tastemaker with a keen ear for good music.
With such versatility, Just Malsz doesn’t not limit himself by categorizing his musical catalog. Nonetheless, instead he focuses on the JM brand and what it means to express yourself creatively.
“Distance” feat Eljae
Fast forward, and he now releases his most recent record titled, “Distance” featuring Eljae. Some of his personal life experiences influenced this album. He begins to tell an intriguing tale with a soulful vibe as the beat drops. As he starts to express himself you can sense the passion within his flow. Throughout the single he talks about the pros and cons of distance. He briefly tells us the creative process behind this all:
“The title of the song came from a place I’m sure we all know someway somehow. We’ve all been at a point of conflict with someone. The point that you’re physically together, but physical is where it ends. Writing songs in regards to topics such as these actually come a little easier for me, I’m a lover boy at heart lol. Or should I say “emotional”. This track was pulled from experiences I’ve had and trying to place those experiences in perspectives that both sides are understood. I want my listeners to relate which I know they will lol. I felt like the original song was very biased so I collaborated with an amazing artist and I’d say she did well in her portrayal of the opposing perspective.”
What’s Next?
His goal for his ambitious career goals is to use his foundation to succeed as a catalyst for creators. Wanting to utilize his music as a voice of reason and motivation for all generations. Just Malsz wants to use the foundation he built to inspire other creatives to overcome their obstacles.
