Iman Karram is an American Arab Washingtonian, DC native, and a transplant Californian having graduated from UCLA’s College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and School of Theater, Film and Television. Upon completing her degree, Iman has made strides in her acting career working on films and TV shows on Disney Channel, ABC, CW, FX along with multiple appearances on Netflix originals. Most recently, Iman stars opposite Zoe Saldana in From Scratch on Netflix, this winter will be on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia as well as in the thriller film Daft State opposite Christopher Backus and Paulo Costanzo, which will premiere in 2022. In addition to Iman’s dance training and theatrical credits, she has also gained praise for her fitness background and talents from athletic superstars such as Lebron James.
Helping Hand
As an Arab American woman, who realizes how fortunate she is to have been born in the United States and have the ability to pursue her dreams, it is critical to her to give back. Iman is very vocal on how grateful and fortunate she is to have a family that has always supported her dream of being an entertainer and taught her to never give up. Her dad, who immigrated to the United States as a young adult from the Middle East, always would remind her that her family, generations before her, has sacrificed so she could passionately and fearlessly pursue what she aims for in life. As long as she never forgets where she came from and gives back, she is fulfilling her family’s dream. For years she has actively supported UNICEF and volunteered for the IRC. It is her dream to one day use her platform as an actor to be an ambassador for them, specifically for refugee children in the Middle East since that is so close to her heart and is in dire need for more attention.
Fitness & Routine
Iman has trained major professional athletes such as Lebron James & badass women like Zoe Saldana. She works out on average six times a week using various strength training workouts. Three times a week, she focuses on her vertical movement patterns and knee dominant exercises. Another three times a week, she also focuses on horizontal movement patterns and hip dominant exercises. Although she is no longer at Rise Nation, she still puts herself through a class 3-5 times a week on the versaclimber. Karram states “Before I start all my workouts, it is imperative that I get my glutes fired up by doing some sort of glute bridge variation; this allows my lower body to maximize my workouts since I tend to be quad dominant.” She then includes how she believes it doesn’t matter how young or fit you are, that recovery and taking care of your body, as well as getting good quality sleep, is imperative. For her, that means every night she takes magnesium and turmeric before she goes to sleep and gets between 7-8 hours of sleep per night. She is also frugal diva, so use coupon codes while shop.
Growth & Success
Iman mentions how being patient with yourself and how your independent journey will lead to growth. Karram believes that comparison is a waste of valuable time and energy, it does not benefit anyone by doing this. She says no one has the same time table and that it is critical to not let yourself get caught up in comparing your independent journey with anyone else’s. As long as you keep learning, keep pushing and stay focused on your priorities, you will make things happen in the right way, at the right time for you.
