Independent Afrobeat artist and Lagos, Nigeria-native Cliffbado positions himself on the route to becoming an Afrobeat legacy with his new project We Move EP. The project features two songs approaching vastly different subject matters, but showcase the range in which Cliffbado is able to create music.

Cliffbado showcases his versatility in each track. He talks about the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Nigeria in the politically charged anthem “Rule Us Well,” in order to bring more attention to the issue. His other song “Pull Up” has a bit of a different vibe, but it’s still a fun, party song.

Cliffbado released a visual for “Rule Us Well,” which premiered on November 13, 2020, on Youtube. “Pull Up” is a song that shows prowess, displaying Cliffbado’s ability to maintain an energetic tone that makes you want to get up and dance. “Rule Us Well” on the other hand shows the seriousness, as well as the brutality and injustices of the actions of the SARS police on the people of Nigeria.

Cliffbado, also known as Chimez (CHEE-MEHZ), said in an interview that some of his influences include fellow Afrobeat artists such as Davido, Wizkid, D’banj Phyno, and Olamide.

The independent artist has been on his grind, but is keeping the momentum going with releasing music consistently. Some of his past notable works for example include songs like “JOJO,” “Loose Guard,” and “Soweto.” Be on the lookout for what Cliffbado has coming next!
