Puma’s Head of Collabs, streetwear’s Andy Warhol Mathhew Growney went a step further stating “Joey has always demonstrated a very futuristic level of creativity. He sees trends ahead and blends timeless cues with at times shocking editorial. There is an almost sinister-like perspective that he takes when designing visuals for products or talent. It’s not a macabre sort of thing, but more of an intellectual invasion. And it always works.”

The galleries reflect the influence of all three at once. It’s a mood, a vibe, an energy. Conscious attention to double meanings and wit in a surreal world where OJ Simpson, Andy Warhol & Benny The Butcher all coexist in a LaChappell like set.

Joey A.X began these IG Gallery shows shortly after hosting NBA All-Star week for 300 Records & Def Jam, a close friend and client of his. He is part sarcastic Ryan Reynolds and part waxing poetic Russel Brand, a combo that made him ideal host material for a lot of the media slate for All-Star Week that needed that personality. “I guess it brought me out of my shell, or my shadows so to speak.” He reflects.

“I started off as a teacher in Dallas. Then I began working for a couple of districts, but I became an assistant principal. I was a diagnostician where we diagnose or we test for certain types of disabilities like learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism, we test for things and correct reports to diagnose kids with those types of disabilities in the school setting. So I did that for a while, which is how I got into vocational rehab. I was the coordinator of Disability Support Services at a local college, and I learned about vocational rehab. So in 2012, I opened ability solutions, and we’re a full service vocational rehab company,” April Watson said.

Together both Vincent and April Watson have extensive experience in the music industry. Whether it’s time on radio, connecting artists for features, A&R work, merchandising or placements online, this tandem of music executives has put Versatile Enterprises brand management work at the forefront of the music industry.

Some of the music videos that they have worked on include OTB Fastane’s My Bussin, Mobsquad Nard “Itz Dat” and Compton Menace’s “Put On” ft. Chris Brown. Most recently they have been putting in work for the viral sensation HD4President with his ons “City of Compton” ft. Compton Menace.

“I noticed that there are not a lot of people that look like me, to be honest with you, in the music and cannabis worlds. I don’t really feel like I’m at a place where I don’t feel comfortable, you know, like, I don’t have to title myself, you know, as a Black woman in this space, like, these are some of the most open minded people you’ll meet. And if you do good business for people, people deal with you,” April Watson said.

Johnny Serian is the founder and owner of a marketing agency known as Digital Diver 360. He is a versatile entrepreneur as he managed to turn an idea into a successful six-figure business. We talked to Serian to learn about his journey of turning an idea into an empire. 

Starting Out 

Serian was a competitive person from an early age. He always wanted to get better. Through rigorous piano lessons as a kid combined with daily track and field workouts from middle school to college, he built resilience and proved to himself that he could accomplish anything.

Serian’s passion for marketing grew as he worked for other companies through marketing school. After working for several companies, he left the corporate world and ventured into restaurants in need of social media presence. But before its creation, he noticed a glaring hole in influencer marketing companies of today. “How do these companies have any idea how we, the influencers, even operate? How do they know the intricacies of creating content and creating value for millions of fans?”, he questioned.

It began with celebrity and influencer parties

In the summer of 2018, Kazzy and his friends moved to Bel Air, Los Angeles, to create content in a mansion together. That house propelled the careers of Lexnour, now Instagram verified producer with over 600 million streams to his music, and YouTuber AldosworldTV, with over 3 million subscribers and half a billion YouTube video views to his name.

The mansion quickly became the party pad for the big-league Youtubers and Influencers such as David Dobrik and TikTok superstar Bryce Hall, but also for professional athletes such as Chelsea FC’s soccer team from the English Premier League, and platinum recording artists such as Lil Mosey. This magical home and networking tycoon became the launchpad for Dreamwell Marketing.

Creating ‘real’ value for Brands

With an overwhelming amount of digital marketing agencies today, it’s hard to differentiate between them. Usually, you get a catalogue of services each one offers such as: SEO, influencer marketing, email marketing, video content creation, website building, app building, packaging, and so on. It seems like it all looks the same.

“How much experience in the actual YouTuber and influencer world do the companies have?” asks Kazzy. This is important because marketing messaging and efforts should take into consideration the influencers before anything, yet the current landscape favors the agency’s ideas and wishes more than the influencers.

“How do the agencies and marketing companies know how to guide my YouTube content so that it converts for their brand clients?”, Kazzy poses. It’s absolutely necessary to understand the content side of things 

Gaining the momentum 

Monetization on YouTube only became a thing when Nike ran its promotional campaign, the first-ever company to invest in YouTube as a promotional tool. “Every YouTuber now aims at capitalizing with the content on YouTube and the platform has also created amazing tools to help us do that,” says Kazzy. 

In July 2006, YouTube attracted a global internet traffic share by 75%. A few months later, YouTube was acquired by Google for $1.65 billion. “We now see opportunities pooling in since the mega brand has now become one of the best marketing tools as well. People are building serious careers on YouTube and it’s proven effective in all sense. At age 24, I was broke and in debt. I paid off my debt 3 months into my YouTube career, ” shares Hussein. 

YouTube was irrefutably parallel to the history of the internet, or we can even knit them together. It took off when the world wide web was still an infant, and people were still adapting to the exponentially growing technology. The future looks even brighter, with studies suggesting that 82% of all internet data traffic will be credited to online videos in 2021.
