For more than 45 years, Dr. Gitlow has managed to achieve consistent success through his exceptional knowledge of Deming’s theory of management, Six Sigma Management, Lean Manufacturing, Japanese Total Quality Control, statistical quality control, and cultural transformation. He is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and hassynthesized Deming-based Lean Six Sigma Management theory and practice from all walks of life. Dr. Gitlow has published over 60 academic articles and authored 16 books. His ambitions flourished when he started studying under Dr. Deming in 1980.
Focus is the Key
For his theory-driven lifestyle and conviction towards Deming-based Lean Six Sigma Management, he received the honor of using any material of Dr. Deming as he himself wrote him personally to use any of his material. Dr. Gitlow was the co-director of the first Deming Institute at the University of Miami.
Dr. Gitlow has been a professor of Management Science at the Miami Herbert Business School since 1977. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Professor at Baruch College, of the City University of New York, from 1974 to 1976. He was a visiting professor at the Stern School of Business at New York University from 2007 to 2014 and at the Science University of Tokyo in 1990, where he studied with Dr. Noriaki Kano. Dr. Gitlow strives to contribute to the societyas he has also served on the editorial boards of several academic journals, was a consultant for many Fortune 500 organizations, and has testified in dozens of legal cases involving critiquing and developing sampling plans, discrimination (age, race, gender, country of origin, and ethnicity), and game-fixing.
A Journey with no limits
Throughout her career, Dr. Gitlow has achieved many accolades. He received the Best Teacher Award and Best Researcher Award multiple times in his career. He is associated with numerous famous personalities, includingW. E. Deming and Noriaki Kano. Dr. Gitlow has made a significant contribution to improving quality control procedures in the workplace. There are three broad categories in which he presents his ideas.
- The Macro Model: Dashboards without irrational targets, goals, quotas, and deadlines
- The Micro Model: Projects and Tasks which replace many of the needs for performance appraisal systems
- The Management Model: Dr. Deming’s Theory of Management, called the System of Profound Knowledge and the 14 Points for Management.
