“Trust your gift”: Get To Know Rising Artist GodsNd

Up-and-coming artist GodsNd has always known himself to possess countless talents, but his passion and gifts for music and dance have made his audience fall in love with his visions, his craft, and his values. His musical style is fluid, a dual concoction of Neo-90s R&B and commercial pop. Now 5 years into his music career, GodsNd’s platform is growing, and growing fast. He’s looking to make a difference not only in his hometown of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, but everywhere—  cultivating his visions, sinking into his unique musical style, inspiring his fans, and letting more of what’s in store for him fall into place. Digital Buzz Now had the opportunity to talk to GodsNd about his goals, desires, and journey as an artist. Read our conversation below!

Where does your musical inspiration derive from?

I’m heavily inspired by 90s R&B, where music had lyrics that told a story, a well-developed structure that included a bridge, and something that just left you feeling changed by the end.

When were you really moved to be involved in music?

I really wanted to take this seriously after writing and producing heavily during my latter part of high school and all throughout college.

How would you describe your style of talents and music?

Fluid. I love pairing my lyrical choreography with the fluid vocal leads and harmonies present in my music’s melodic structure. I also love taking the audience on a journey with my videos. Neo-90s R&B meets commercial pop [describes my style of music]. Bryan McKnight meets Adele.

Where are you in your career? Where do you want to be?

I’m in a place of flow. The more I surrender to love and my purpose, the more things are coming into fruition. I’d love to be in a place where I have the platform to truly make a difference with all that’s going on in the world, from racism to mental health awareness.

Who have you worked with and who would you like to work with next?

I’ve worked on the musical show “Hamilton”. I’ve also begun doing some work with Ne-yo. I’d love to work with Frank Ocean and Beyoncé at some point in my career. I’m also heavily inspired by Usher.

What are your long term goals? Who do you want to reach with your music?

I’d love for my music to target anyone who’s ever felt like an outsider, or felt like giving up because they didn’t feel worthy. Self-love is the best love, and if I could inspire others to love themselves through my artistry, I’d be incredibly satisfied.

What sets you apart from others?

There’s no competition. I’m just being me, and we all have a story to tell. Everyone’s story is valid, and once you start to appreciate it, you understand that all you need to do is let your light shine unapologetically. People will notice. They will see you in them.

Do you have any other desires or goals you would like to achieve?

I have a vision board where I have several things I’d love to manifest. One of those would be a Billboard #1. I’d also love to open up an arts school in my home country of Haiti. I also see myself with my own record label, signing artists that share the same love for creativity, innovation, and inspiring others to take that journey toward self-love.

What advice do you have for youth who want to pursue a career in music?

Trust your gift, trust the process, but above all, never give up!
