<div>Chef Lexis has always had a passion for food ever since she could remember. Lexis had her first shop Lady Lexis Sweets in East Harlem when she was only 23 years old. She has been featured on Food Network&#8217;s Chopped Sweets, NYCWFF and Essence to name a few. She is now the private chef and co-owner of Lady Lexis Kitchen and makes what she has coined Boricua Geechee Cuisine (a fusion of Puerto Rican and Low Country food of Charleston/Edisto Island, SC) You can also catch her recipes on Youtube to learn how to make some great dishes in your home.</div>

<div><strong><span style="color: #000000;font-family: georgia, serif">What is the inspiration behind becoming an influencer? </span></strong>I love to teach people how to cook. I think it&#8217;s one of those things that aren&#8217;t the norm anymore because we go out to eat so much (which by the way I love to do as well) But every now and again I think we can all use a great home cooked meal. It brings together family and friends in a different way. So I influence cooking to bring everyone a little bit closer in this world of distance.</div>

<div><strong><span style="color: #000000;font-family: georgia, serif">When did you first know you wanted to become creative and what was the point that really made you go for it? </span></strong>I&#8217;ve always been a creative since a child before social media. I would sew, craft and bake. I just never knew it would become my career.</div>

<p><span style="color: #000000;font-family: georgia, serif">What’s the best and what’s the hardest part about finding your passion? </span>The hardest part is knowing if you made the right choice. It takes patience to find out. You have to literally put in the work consistently and then watch the results. You cannot be quick to quit. When you are able to put up with all of that, that&#8217;s how you know you&#8217;ve found your passion, your purpose.</p>

<div><strong><span style="color: #000000;font-family: georgia, serif">What are some of your biggest fears that you faced when started in the entertainment industry? </span></strong>Not taking the right risks or rather knowing which risks to take. Some of those big risks give big rewards. Others can set you back and be a waste of time by people just trying to use you.</div>

<div><strong><span style="color: #000000;font-family: georgia, serif">Where do you go or what do you do for inspiration when working on a new project?</span></strong></div>
<div>I listen to R&amp;B music. R&amp;B love music makes me fall in love with the new project. It&#8217;s soothing and helps me to focus. I also meditate to clear my mind and help me refocus.</div>

<div>My motto is persistence, patience, perseverance. Be persistent with what you want to do. Be patient with the process. Persevere through the ups and downs.</div>

<div>When you are a creative you have to find self motivation in order to keep going. But remember to be surrounded by people who do what you do because they also understand what you are going through. They make the journey easier because you know you are not alone.</div>
