Atlanta-based hip-hop artist OGPD announces the upcoming release of his new album ‘MPR’. No date has been set yet however, the rapper has been teasing the release on social media. To hold fans over, he released his latest visual “24/7” exclusvely on YouTube. For those who are not yet familiar with OGPD, his name stands for “On God Purpose Driven,” reflecting the rapper’s view that all actions in life should be motivated by a purpose.
The artist hasn’t disclosed the list of songs the album will include. However, given his “Stay True to Yourself” creed, the new album should be a tremendous vibey-style inspiration source for listeners. “It will motivate all people to dance, feel good and go out and get it,” the artist said.
A self-made hip-hopper from the Bronx, OGPD has been in tune with the music, sounds, instrumentation, and the whole artistic process from a very young age. This should come as no surprise – his father was one of the most prolific and influential DJs in New York in the 90s.
The rapper first got into music in 2010, working as a sound engineer while living in his hometown. In 2014, he moved to Atlanta, and four years later released his first single, launching his career as a rapper. “I’ve been soaking up the game, I’ve been behind the scenes, but now I’m doing my thing in front of the camera,” he said. A “fly Caribbean New Yorker from the Bronx,” as he calls himself, the artist produces music that combines rap and vibey, resulting in Caribbean-style melodies with a modern, electric edge.
OGPD has released two singles and one album, ‘ 1050,’ which dropped in January 2021. Music videos for three of his lead singles, “Dolce Gabbana,” “Whenever,” and “Flooded” from the album have proven extremely popular on YouTube. The artist has currently been working solely with his 1050 team, claiming he wants to make it “worldwide” in the near short term.
Don’t miss OGPD’s new album available on YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidalstarting on August 30.
