With AYAM quickly growing in the independent artist world, the Florida artist looks to keep her impressive momentum with the release of her latest music video “Shake”. AYAM showcases her powerful, soulful voice all throughout the heartfelt track. We asked AYAM what the creating experience was like, she had this to say:
“Heartbreak was the motivation. I said after I made this song I would be over him. Love through experience is the basis and motivation for most of my songs…The process was actually wild. I had a song in my head for inspiration (Bass Song x Eryn Allen Kane). I told my producer at the time (Jed @ JTB Recording Studios) that I wanted a beat like this. He sent me a snippet of what he had so far and I just happened to be in the car on the highway…still heartbroken and just let my voice memo have it!!! I came up with the hook and most of the first verse right then before the beat was even done”.
AYAM is definitely a self-driven artist which is by far one the best attributes that you can possess as an independent artist. AYAM had this say about some of her self-proclaimed accomplishments…
“Fall Nights: I put together a full show and a lounge. Live Band, DJ, Full Bar. I performed my full catalog at the time plus Might God x Deitrick Haddon to give God the glory. It was supposed to be in my backyard but it stormed. Hurricane was coming but we were able to move it to a local lounge and it still was a great turn out.”
We have to applaud AYAM and the major intuitive that she took upon herself to make sure her dreams are coming true; she is not only an artist but a true owner of her brand.
With AYAM’s career still on the rise, the Florida artist looks to elevate with every waking moment. AYAM has goals to work alongside artists such as Jazmine Sullivan, Jordan Rakei, Big KIRT and Babyface. We have to say we would love to hear AYAM collaborate with any of these artists.
It is safe to say AYAM is well on her way! Having a drive like hers and a voice as powerful as hers, we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw AYAM on tour soon. With the independent artist course being so rigorous, AYAM had this to say for any viewers that are looking to either become or already are independent artists…
“A lot of times it’s hard to know where you’re going until you get there but you have to keep going. The work will reward itself, but the word reward is subjective and don’t let anyone define that for you.”
