As the owner of his own record label “Takes Time Entertainment”, an overall creative, and an aspiring changemaker, up-and-coming independent hip-hop artist Deorsey Ardae wears many hats, and run-of-the-mill doesn’t describe any of them. While he just started making music back in 2020, Deorsey’s debut album “Takes Time” was released earlier this year, and his hit single off the project “Big Star” was featured on NBA 2K21, as well as the game’s accompanying Spotify and Apple Music playlists. Now, he’s striking the music world once again with new visuals and his latest song “Cute As A Button”, one of two singles released off his upcoming album “Take Time 2”, set for release in 2022.
Born in California but raised in Texas, Deorsey describes his music as an authentic fusion of the two regional sounds, relying on his voice to carry his work. He hopes to make an impact on hip-hop as a whole, and he makes the distinction between being influenced by the game and being influential to the game, defining himself as the latter. “Cute As A Button” is both alluring and seductive, and Deorsey’s vocals, backed by smooth guitar melodies, carry the track. But he doesn’t stray away from talking about his setbacks. Deorsey’s music is transparent and honest, and he keeps his message clear.
While urged to sing and rap by his mother and brother growing up, Deorsey is no stranger to the obstacles that may fall between someone and their dreams. After graduating from the University of Texas at Tyler, Deorsey had aspirations of becoming a probation officer, inspired by the mistakes and troubles he had made earlier in life. Afterward, he jumped at the possibility of becoming a catastrophe adjuster for an insurance company, and it took 4 years before Deorsey decided to bet on himself and pursue music full time. The rest is history.
Now, Deorsey Ardae is one to watch, and his single “Cute As A Button” and debut album “Takes Time” speak volumes on the kind of work we’ll be seeing on his upcoming project. Through and through, Deorsey hopes to amplify the core message that changed his own life, and always advises other up-and-coming artists the same: “Follow your dreams and have faith everything will turn out exactly how it’s supposed to.”
