What city did you grow up in? What city do you currently live in?
Tahirah: I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland where I still reside.
Who is your business role model? Why?
Tahirah: One of my business role models is Oprah because of how she always reinvents herself. She is such a trendsetter and phenomenal at everything she does; from entrepreneurship, journalism, philanthropy acting and producing, the list goes on. Oprah’s net worth and her network is untouchable.
My other is Debbie Allen because of what she has done for black and brown dancers. She has excelled in being a dancer, performer, creative director, writer, producer and actor. It’s no secret that she has a famous actress sister that she is very close with. I’ve always admired their relationship and success as sisters.
What do you define as success?
Tahirah: Besides the seemingly obvious definition of success being financial freedom, success to me is freedom mentally, and being in control of how you spend your time. Knowing how to eliminate negative energy and things that don’t contribute to your growth.
Do you believe in work-life balance? If so, how do you maintain it?
Tahirah: Work-Life balance is extremely important to me. I’m a firm believer in ‘work hard, play harder’. Knowing how to be productive, but maintaining balance between family time, self-care and a social life is essential. I’m ok with telling someone no if it means I won’t miss important family time. I start filling my calendar with work and family, and any other free days I have, get filled with fun and me time. Connect on Instagram @misty1128
