Creating content could not be as easy as it looks. Nicholas Soh is a Malaysian-based content creator and YouTuber. Since his childhood, he has wanted to inspire people through fantastic content. His first video on YouTube back in 2019 did not receive as much attention as expected. After a month of his videos on YouTube not hitting the globe, he could have easily given up, but he chose to keep the fire burning. He had this inner voice that fuelled his strength and kept his hope alive. This inner voice whispered to him, time to time, ‘You have gone so far, why give up now?’
Zeal, determination, and thirst for knowledge are the keys to success. Nicholas became a student of youtube and google. He spent most of his hours searching for how to grow a YouTube channel. One of the secrets he learned was audience satisfaction. Creating content that your audience enjoys watching, one they relate with, and an engaging one were some of the tips he took note. However, this was not a sure bet that he would have trending videos; it only meant he was on the right path.
Nicholas’ victory was not by luck; it cost him time, energy, motivation, consistency, resilience, and effort. He made many mistakes such as filming for his YouTube video without pressing the record button. He says, ‘I have never arrived; I still learn every day.’ His significant share of growth was coming out of his shell and staying composed attending the group meet-ups. He had to come out in his genuine authenticity to win his audience’s hearts.
A healthy and supportive environment is vital regardless of the kind of work someone does. Nicholas was lucky enough to have his family and friends who made him forget about the long days. His social media followers greatly motivated him to create and embrace the kind of content he produced. YouTubers in the same niche were also a massive source of inspiration for him to make more creative content.
His best piece of advice for upcoming YouTubers is to be comfortable while in front of the camera. ‘Investing in a good camera for filming will always make your YouTube videos top notch,’ he says. With this, one is assured of quality content that is competitive in your niche. He continues, ‘You should not settle for less, It is okay to film a video over and over again until you produce a satisfactory video. ‘Confidence saves one a great deal.’ He concludes.
